How do you get a Porsche Certificate of Conformity for a UK import?
Porsche says every vehicle produced for the EU market comes with a Certificate of Conformity, so first ask the seller for the original. If it is missing, we obtain a duplicate for you as part of the import; a CoC usually costs from £120 to around £385, depending on the make, model and year. A Porsche over 10 years old does not need a CoC at all: the DVLA needs proof of its age instead.

1. When a Porsche needs a CoC
Only a Porsche under 10 years old needs proof of approval to be registered, and for a car registered in the EU that proof is the CoC (GOV.UK). A 996, a 993 or anything older is over 10, needs no approval (GOV.UK exemptions list), and the CoC stops being part of the registration.
2. Getting a CoC for a Porsche
Porsche Great Britain says every vehicle produced for the EU market is provided with a CoC, which also carries the laboratory CO2 figures. So the first step is simple: ask the seller for the original. It is often in the car's document wallet.

The CoC exists for cars built for the European market. A US-market Cayenne or 911 under 10 years old has no EU CoC and needs Individual Vehicle Approval instead. Over 10 years old it needs neither: it has to meet the UK lighting and speedometer rules, and pass a UK MOT if it needs one.
4. Classic Porsches: proving the age
For a classic, the DVLA takes the date of manufacture from the original foreign registration document, or may accept other proof of the manufacture date, such as a dating letter (GOV.UK). We obtain the dating letter for you when the foreign papers do not show the date. A dating letter usually costs from about £60 to £90 through an owners' club, or from about £120 to around £300 directly from the manufacturer. 5. Left-hand drive Porsches
A left-hand drive Porsche under 10 years old needs a GB conversion IVA certificate as well as the CoC, based on a garage invoice for left-dipping headlamps, an mph speedometer and a correctly placed rear fog light.
